We are going to cover a topic this morning in our “You Asked for It” series that I am just going to be honest with you and tell you that it makes me very uncomfortable.
There are two reasons that it makes me uncomfortable:
First, most who preach and teach God’s word understand that sometimes people get up tight when we talk about what the Bible says about money. One thing to understand is how much Jesus had to say about money. The Bible offers 500 verses on prayer, fewer than 500 verses on faith, and more than 2,000 verses on money. In fact, 15 percent of everything Jesus ever taught was on the topic of money and possessions-more than His teachings on heaven and hell combined. The truth is that you and I should want to learn and practice every principle that we can glean from scripture concerning money and material possessions because Jesus put so much emphasis on it.
Second, every time I preach this I feel a certain amount of guilt because this is an area I have struggled with in my walk with the Lord.
