When I first became a Christian, I did not understand the importance of God’s word. You see I did not really like to read and the thought of reading the Bible honestly did not appeal to me a whole lot. I was one of those people that would read the back of the book when doing a book report for school or try to find some commentary about the book that would give me a good grasp of what the book was about. I would also, speed read or skim through the book with the hope of being able to grasp the main ideas from the book.
Here is what I did not understand about the Bible ……… I did not understand the power that it had to continually change and transform my life. As I continued to attend church I learned that reading the Bible was not just about gaining knowledge like other books, but it was about yielding myself to its transforming power.
