In Bryce Cook’s message on Sunday October 15 he played a song by Sidewalk Prophets entitled “I Want To Live Like That”. Listening to his message and that song really got me thinking about the concept of “Living Like That”. Then I started to ponder what it takes to live like that and as Bryce said, “to live an all in life for Christ”.
Here are a couple of thoughts that relate to this principle:
- Christ must be Savior. As Jesus explained to Nicodemus in John Chapter 3 each of us “must be born again”. There must be a new life and it must start with being saved through personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior. Romans 10:9-10 make it very clear how this happens, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.“
- Christ must be Lord. After that saving faith then life comes down to a continual attitude of surrendering (making Jesus Lord) our lives to God for His plans and purposes. Romans 12:1-2 makes this very clear, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
So in conclusion to, “Live Like That” we must simply be willing to know Him (be saved) and live each moment of our lives offering ourselves to Him (surrender).
